To clarify…

It wasn’t the amount of the tax that kickstarted the Revolutionary War.

It was actually lowered by the British in order to position the East India Company as a trade monopoly which would have forced a tax on the Colonials.

Ultimately, taxation without representation started the Revolutionary War.
